My Mother’s dedication to the health of her family through food was inspired by her father, my Grandfather. Gramps always ate carefully; I remember him sitting in his tiny kitchen eating yogurt from little glasses that he had “put up” overnight. ( In the 1950’s barely anyone knew what yogurt was!)
Mom enjoyed preparing meals for us, and took the time to cook healthy and delicious food.
I inherited this passion for healthy eating, and one of my careers was operating a catering company which specialized in foods that reflected the simple sophistication inherent in rustic cooking.
A dear and old friend of mine sent me vintage cookbooks for my 75th birthday! So I was inspired to honor the memory of my mother’s kitchen. The pictures of recipes and cookbook covers come from this gift.
The fabrics for this folk art quilt are custom-printed and coordinated, and the “wall-art” behind the curtains are pictures done by my own grandchildren, whose photos are also on the quilt. (If purchased, I would be happy to substitute pictures of your own children on the quilt!)
